AS GOES FL-24, SO GOES THE NATION
Last week's complete and utter caving by the Dems to the Neocons on warrantless wiretapping should make it very clear that it's not just about getting Democrats in office. Because when the Dems are Neocon enablers who adamantly refuse to challenge the Bush administration--whether out of fear or because they actually believe the official propaganda--government fails. So-called representatives like Speaker Nancy Pelosi continually disregard both the Constitution and the will of the people they're sworn to represent.
So this coming election, it's not just about electing "Democrats." Pelosi and her ilk have worked assiduously to stifle any opposition to Bush. We need more like her like we need a hole in the head.
Which brings us to Florida. Congressman Tom Feeney (R), a Jeb Bush crony branded "Top 20 Most Corrupt in Congress" for 3 years straight (source: CREW) faces two Democratic challengers for his seat. One is election fraud whistleblower Clint Curtis, who alleges that Feeney asked him to write vote-flipping software in 2000 in order to game Florida elections (and Curtis passed a lie detector test administered by the retired head of the FL Dept of Law Enforcement to back it up. We're still waiting on Feeney to take the test...) Curtis, a true progressive, ran against Feeney in 2006 and lost. But when the official totals did not match the polling, Curtis's team went door to door collecting thousands of signed affidavits from voters which proved the election had been gamed.
But Curtis' congressional election challenge was shut down by the Democratically-led panel without even looking at his evidence. What was I saying about the *type* of Democrats we need to elect?
The other candidate vying for the Democratic nomination: DCCC hand-picked blue dog do-nothing millionaire Suzanne Kosmas, among whose accomplishments in the Florida legislature were:
> She co-sponsored the resolution supporting George Bush and the Iraq War
> She voted against the consumers by opposing Tax Holidays
> She voted against working families by opposing Living Wage standards
> She voted against the environment by opposing the Everglades Protection Act
The Kosmas fund-raising machine has already raised over $1 million... of corporate dough. But the polls show: she cannot win. Curtis can.
And so it should be clear by now --- we don't just need Democrats In Name Only. We need fighters. We need candidates with the guts to stand up before Congress and testify that elections have been rigged and name names (Curtis has done this. Congress, naturally, did nothing.)
So. Isn't it time we got our opposition party back??? Can I get a "hell, yeah!!!"? Please contribute NOW to Curtis' campaign. He needs to raise $10,000 in order to take on the Kosmas and Feeney cash machines. Curtis CAN win this. Even if you can only throw him the cost of a cup of Starbucks, please take a moment to do so. Anything helps.
We *have* to win our country back this November, and the only way to do that is not just by voting out Bush Republicans--it's by getting rid of the corporate Democrats. Thank you all and keep up the fight!
