It's obvious that Republicans are against an independent press and freedom of speech, 2 cornerstones of a democracy. That's why I hate Repubicans. Republicans want to suppress news that doesn't fit their agenda, and they call it "liberal news", when it's just a true story the public should know about. There is no liberal news. And I never saw any liberal trying to suppress news or a dissenting opinion. I only see Repubicans and conservatives trying to suppress news and dissenting opinions.

For Big Dan: The most "liberal" news of the last five years is two stolen elections. And where have you read anything about them in the mainstream press, or heard about them on TV?
Amazingly, Jack Abramoff's problems are going to blow the cover off everything. And all because Scanlon's jilted ex-girl friend decided to turn the tables on him! Almost like a cheap novel, isn't it?
This is going to be a new kind of "liberal news." The media haven't been willing to touch election fraud (corporate bosses have forbidden it), but they're already into the Abramoff scandal pretty deeply. So now that the dots connect from Abramoff and Ney to DeStefano and Diebold, and now that Diebold's C.E.O. has gone down, they've had three class-action suits filed against them, and they've failed a hack test in Florida, it's hard to see how it all won't come out in the wash.
Even the New York Times and Washington Post, in all their above-the-fray arrogance, won't be able to separate the pork from the chaff this time. Maybe I shouldn't say pork...Abramoff is kosher (sic), and we're talking about politicians here besides.

The stolen election will come completely bubbling out to the surface along with all of the machines, everything.

The criteria for a neoCon to supress a story is "how true and accurate is it" and "does it help or hurt the neoCon cause".
These TV ads failed on both points, and so, the full blown threat machine took over.
Incidently DeLay's defense money comes from the Abramoff river (now a toxic river) most likely.

David Brock of mediamatters, formerly "one of them", said in his book, that the GOP strategy is to either suppress true, important news stories from the public, or float false stories contradicting the true ones they couldn't suppress, because the MSM doesn't filter out the false stories AND to confuse the public.

Does the ad to inform the public about DeLay include information about him receiving $1 million from Russians?
Will news of the Bush admin. acting on behalf of Russians after Abramoff did his lobbying be of interest to Texans?

Hmmmm.
Anyone ever heard of innocent until proven guilty?
Oh I forgot the caveat that if they are a conservative they should be hung for anything including jaywalking. Your hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Big K - you are so right on!
They are still fighting the 2 "stolen" elections - they are fighting the "Battle of Who Could Care Less."
"They are coming to take them away, ho, ho, he, he..."

DeLay doesn't even remotely resemble an innocent man. Like Geraldo Rivera Referring to Scott Petersen as a murderer from the start, it's just stating the obvious.

Amazing! - Haven't you heard of the
"PATRIOT ACT"under which you can be held indefinitly without trial or any form of legal recourse?
In case you hadn't noticed we are asking for indictments and impeachment
Both of these are legal recourses which allow for proof of innocence.
Also we are asking for anyone involved - Republican AND Democrat - to be brought before the courts. (At this juncture there seem to be a lot more Republicans involved)
We are asking for the corruption to be revealed and proper steps taken to stop it and punish those PROVEN to be involved.
Just because we push for this information to see the light of day does not imply proof of guilt. It must be borne out in the courts.
Go watch George Orwell's 1984 AND George Lucas' THX 1138 AND Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. Compare them to things going on today.
Then come back and present an informed argument!

I haven't heard anyone here suggest that DeLay isn't entitled to fair trials.
Big K and Paul confuse "legal presumption of innocence," the right of every accused person (except Guantanmo detainees), with public awareness of one's character. People know DeLay is a sleaze, and the charges he faces seem to fit his manner and public conduct. So his enemies are now rejoicing in his difficulties...not because they don't want him to be treated fairly in court, rather because it's human to want to see bullies get their due. DeLay is the archetype of a political bully.

Pay no attention to Big K.
His philosophy is "Innocent until proven guilty. When proven guilty, deny anything illegal ever took place."
He also condones the "Give up civil liberties until proven guilty." option.

OT ALERT
From my Patriot Act link above:
"SEC. 213. AUTHORITY FOR DELAYING NOTICE OF THE EXECUTION OF A WARRANT.
Section 3103a of title 18, United States Code, is amended--
(1) by inserting `(a) IN GENERAL- ' before `In addition'; and
(2) by adding at the end the following:
`(b) DELAY- With respect to the issuance of any warrant or court order under this section, or any other rule of law, to search for and seize any property or material that constitutes evidence of a criminal offense in violation of the laws of the United States, any notice required, or that may be required, to be given may be delayed if--
`(1) the court finds reasonable cause to believe that providing immediate notification of the execution of the warrant may have an adverse result (as defined in section 2705);
`(2) the warrant prohibits the seizure of any tangible property, any wire or electronic communication (as defined in section 2510), or, except as expressly provided in chapter 121, any stored wire or electronic information, except where the court finds reasonable necessity for the seizure; and
`(3) the warrant provides for the giving of such notice within a reasonable period of its execution, which period may thereafter be extended by the court for good cause shown.'.
Everything here says it can be DELAYED - nowhere does it say it may be IGNORED! So why the F**K is Bushco doing warrantless spying!!!!!!!! And how is it not in breach of his own Patriot Act?
